Bollywood music director Ismail Durbar has claimed that AR Rahman had bought the Oscar Award by paying for it.
This had stirred the hornet’s nest with several people in the film industry alleging that Durbar is making such statements for some cheap publicity.
On the other hand, AR Rahman has said that there is certainly no money involved in the Oscar Awards. He added that the coveted award is given with the consensus of about 3000 people and it is impossible to buy it.
The film fraternity has appealed to Durbar to refrain from making such comments. They added that every Indian should be proud that AR Rahman had achieved this feat by sheer hard work and hence should not doubt its veracity.
